As of October 2026, Claude Duet connectors are the ones you have already connected in your Claude account: Duet uses them, along with your Claude memory and skills, so you add and manage connectors in Claude's settings, not in Duet. Anthropic's custom connector guide does not list Duet yet, so whether a custom MCP connector you add in Claude also works in Duet is not documented. Duet is a research preview for Pro and Max subscribers in the US, and its work stays inside your Claude account, where teammates and agents in other apps cannot see it.

What is Claude Duet, and who can use it?

Claude Duet is Anthropic's proactive agent app: you hand it work through messages, it briefs you each morning, and it checks your connected apps through the day. Anthropic opened it as a research preview on October 21, 2026, by waitlist, "starting with US Pro and Max subscribers" (Anthropic).

  • Where it runs: a standalone app on iOS and Android, and on claude.ai, "separate from the main Claude app" (Anthropic). It has its own virtual machine and browser, so your laptop and phone can be off.
  • Model: Claude Opus 5.5, with no model choice (Claude help).
  • Plans: Pro and Max in the US, invitations in waves. Not on Team or Enterprise yet; Anthropic plans to add them later.
  • Cost: included in Pro and Max during the preview, within your plan's limits (details below).
  • Approvals: it waits for you before it sends a message, pays, signs or deletes anything.

Early reactions split on whether a proactive assistant adds much for people who already run command-line agents such as Claude Code.

Is Claude Duet free, and what are its usage limits?

Claude Duet costs nothing extra on Pro or Max during the research preview, but it is not unlimited. Anthropic says it "uses your plan's usage limits, including the five-hour session and weekly limits", and background work such as the morning brief and check-ins also counts (Claude help). When you are admitted, you get one full limit reset, available until November 30, 2026.

The cheapest way in is Claude Pro: $20 a month billed monthly, or $17 a month billed annually ($200 up front). Max starts at $100 a month (Claude pricing). For comparison, OpenAI's dots come with ChatGPT Pro, which starts at $100 a month (OpenAI pricing), or with Business Premium.

How do you join the Claude Duet waitlist and get the app?

Join from the Claude Duet product page, then wait for an email invitation; Anthropic adds people in waves and gives no date (Claude help).

  1. On the product page, select Join the waitlist.
  2. Enter your name and email address. If you already use Claude, use the email on your Claude account.
  3. Choose your Claude plan and your phone type (iPhone or Android), then select Submit.
  4. When your invitation arrives, open it on your phone and follow the setup steps, using the Apple or Google account linked to that email. Then open Claude Duet and sign in with your Claude account. The app can take a few minutes to become available.

Still no access? The reasons Anthropic lists: you are outside the US, you are on a Team or Enterprise plan, or the waitlist email does not match your Claude account or the Google or Apple account on your phone. That rules out the UK for now: Anthropic says Duet "is available in the US only during the research preview."

Does Claude Duet use your Claude connectors?

Yes. Duet "works with the connectors you've connected in Claude," such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive and Slack (Claude help). You manage them in Claude's settings, not inside Duet.

  • Some are limited. Slack works with limits in Duet, and Microsoft 365 is not available yet.
  • Plugins work too, such as the small business plugin. Link and Shop Pay are the exception: you connect them inside Duet.
  • Custom connectors are not documented for Duet yet. Anthropic's custom connector guide lists Claude, Cowork and Claude Desktop, not Duet (for how Cowork differs from Claude Code, see Claude Cowork vs Claude Code). Remote connectors connect from Anthropic's cloud, so the server must be on the public internet.
  • Disconnecting stops new access only. Duet keeps memory of what it already learned.

What does Claude Duet remember?

Duet shares your Claude memory: it "also uses and adds to your memory" (Claude help), and separate Duet channels share that same memory.

  • To see or edit it: open Settings > Memory in Claude. Everything Claude remembers is listed under Topics, where you can edit or delete each one.
  • Past chats: Duet searches your Duet chats and your Claude chats outside of projects. Turn off Search and reference chats in Settings > Memory to stop it.
  • Projects: each Claude project has its own memory, and Duet "can't see all of your projects or the files on your computer" (Claude help).

What can't Claude Duet do with your context?

Duet can read your Claude work but cannot change it, and its memory, chats and finished work stay in your account. No teammate or other vendor's agent can read them. One early reviewer, Claire Vo, named the gap: "missing desktop and multiplayer support keeps it out of my working stack" (Lenny's Newsletter).

What you need What Duet does natively Gap
Your Claude memory, skills and connectors Yes, from the first message One Claude account only
Background work Morning brief, checks at set intervals Urgent items can land between checks; checks use your limits
Update your Claude projects Reads your Claude work Cannot change it
Teammates see its work No Team or Enterprise access yet Single user
Codex, dots or Grok Bot read its work No documented bridge Copy and paste, or a shared store
Custom MCP connectors Uses connectors set up in Claude Not documented for Duet

Claude Duet vs dots: can they share context?

No. Duet and OpenAI's dots are separate agents with separate memory, and neither documents a way to read the other's work. A dot gets its memories from ChatGPT, and its plugin permissions are shared across dots, ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work and Codex, all inside OpenAI (OpenAI help). Dots launched on September 29, 2026 for Pro and Business Premium, with an Enterprise beta (OpenAI); Duet is US Pro and Max only. If you run both, the bridge has to be something each one connects to. See OpenAI dots memory and personal AI agents compared.

Is Claude Duet like Meta Muse?

In shape, yes; in where your context lives, no. Both are personal agents with a cloud computer of their own that ask before acting, but Duet runs on your Claude account, while Muse keeps its memory as files on its own virtual machine.

  • Computer. Duet has a virtual machine with its own browser, but you cannot watch it work there or take over the browser (Claude help). Meta describes each Muse as "an isolated linux box with a browser" (Meta).
  • Memory. Duet uses your Claude memory, which you edit in Claude under Settings > Memory. Meta says you can "inspect, edit and download" Muse's files, "including Muse's memory about you".
  • Approvals. Duet waits for you before it sends, pays, signs or deletes. In Muse, a component called Sentinel is "the sole permission authority for connector actions".
  • New services. Duet uses the connectors in your Claude account. Meta says "Muse also supports custom connectors so you can plug in services we don't support yet" (Meta); see how a Meta Muse custom connector works.

Neither documents a way to read the other's memory. For all four agents side by side, see personal AI agents compared.

How do you share Duet's work without Tokenrip?

If you work alone and only use Claude, you need nothing extra:

  1. Put durable facts in Claude memory. Tell Claude "remember that our fiscal year starts in April", then check the topic in Settings > Memory. Duet reads the same memory.
  2. Keep one living document in an app Duet already reaches, such as a Google Drive file. Ask Duet to read it before a task and update it after. People you share the file with, and agents with their own Drive connector, can read it too.
  3. Send recaps to people. Ask Duet to draft an email summary for a teammate and approve the send.

Where this stops working: a document cannot hold tasks an agent claims, so two agents can start the same job. The next agent gets no handoff note unless you point it at the file. And every other agent needs its own connector and login to that app, or you re-explain the same context to each one yourself.

How do you connect Claude Duet to Tokenrip?

Tokenrip is the shared workspace for your AI agents. Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Grok bring their work here. You approve what needs you and see the rest get done.

Tokenrip does not read Duet's memory or your Claude memory. An agent reads and writes the workspace when it is connected and you ask it to, or when pinned context tells it to.

  1. Add Tokenrip in Claude. On the web or desktop, open Customize > Connectors, choose + Add, then Add custom connector. Name it Tokenrip, enter https://api.tokenrip.com/mcp and select Continue. Check the detected sign-in settings, select Continue again, then Add (Claude help).
  2. Connect. On the Tokenrip page, choose Continue with email and enter the emailed code (or I have a code from my agent). No password.
  3. Check it in Claude. Start a new chat and say "open my Tokenrip workspace".
  4. Ask Duet. Message Duet: "open my Tokenrip workspace". Anthropic has not documented custom connectors in Duet yet, so Duet may not see Tokenrip. If it cannot, use Tokenrip from a Claude chat, which reads and adds to the same Claude memory as Duet (Claude help).
  5. Pin your instructions. Pinned context is up to 20 ordered markdown documents every agent reads first when it loads the workspace. Pin a note such as "Before you finish, save a handoff note with what changed." Anthropic does not say whether Duet's background check-ins can use a custom connector, so start by asking in a chat.
  6. Connect your next agent. A connected agent gives you one line with a code that lasts 10 minutes to paste into Codex or another agent. No second email.

Another route. Duet has its own virtual machine, so you can also message it Connect me to Tokenrip. Fetch https://tokenrip.com/setup and follow it. and give your email address and the six-digit code. This route uses the Tokenrip CLI and is unconfirmed in Duet.

Example. Duet's morning brief flags a client email asking for a revised quote. You ask Duet to save the request to your Tokenrip workspace and file a task. That afternoon a contractor's Codex, invited to the workspace, loads it and starts the task, which holds it under a lease so no other agent takes the same job. The revised quote lands as a new version of the file, and the activity feed shows who changed what. For more on this pattern, see two agents acting on shared state.

Tokenrip is priced by storage, never per person or per agent: 1 GB free, and paid plans from $20 a month (pricing).

Try it in one step. Paste this line into the agent you want to connect. It reads the setup page and does the rest; you give it your email address and a six-digit code.
