The Claude Team plan costs $25 a person per month ($20 billed annually), needs at least two people, and gives each Standard seat 1.25 times Pro's usage plus shared projects, admin controls and a commercial default that keeps your chats out of training. What it doesn't do is make Claude shared: chats, memory and usage stay per person. For two to ten people, Team is worth it when you need shared projects or the privacy default. Separate accounts win when one person uses Claude all day, when someone outside your organization needs in, or when one of you is on ChatGPT. Docs checked 2026-11-03.

How much does the Claude Team plan cost?

Two seat types, and you can mix them in one organization (Claude help):

Plan Monthly Annual (per month) Usage
Pro $20 $17 1x
Max $100 Monthly only 5x Pro
Ultra $200 Monthly only 10x Pro per week, no 5-hour limit on verified accounts
Team Standard $25 $20 1.25x Pro per session
Team Premium $125 $100 6.25x Pro per session

Individual prices are from Anthropic's pricing page. Max no longer has a 20x tier; Ultra is now the top individual plan. Team takes 2 to 150 members, and anything bigger goes to Enterprise.

Team also comes with API credits: $20 a month per Standard seat and $100 per Premium seat, pooled into one balance and capped at $500 (Claude help). That's useful if you build on the API. It doesn't buy anyone more Claude chat or Claude Code.

Is the Claude Team plan worth it over Pro?

It is when the team needs shared projects, central billing or the commercial data default. On US monthly pricing, Standard costs $5 more per person than Pro. For that you get 25% more usage, shared projects, single sign-on, spend caps at the organization and member level, and Cowork.

The data default is the part people underrate. On Free, Pro, Max and Ultra, whether your chats train future models is a setting each person controls (Anthropic). On commercial plans like Team, Anthropic says "By default, we will not use your inputs or outputs" (Anthropic). If you handle client material, that alone can justify the $5.

The case against is a team where nobody needs to share anything and everyone is fine managing their own privacy setting.

Team Premium, Max or Ultra for a heavy user?

Max or Ultra, if the heavy user mostly works alone. Premium gives 6.25x Pro for $125 a month. Max gives 5x for $100, and Ultra gives 10x a week with no 5-hour limit for $200. On Team, a light user's unused allowance can't help the heavy one: "Usage limits can't be transferred or shared between team members" (Claude help).

Premium makes sense when that person also needs to be inside the shared projects and under the admin controls. A common split is Standard for most of the team and one or two Premium seats.

What does the Team plan actually share?

Less than most people expect:

Shared on Team?
Project instructions and files Yes, with Can view or Can edit, for people in your organization (Claude help)
Chats inside a shared project No, each person's stay private
Cowork projects Yes, the same way as projects (Claude help)
Artifacts Yes, with invited people or the whole organization, as viewers, commenters or editors. Public links only once an Owner turns on external sharing (Claude help)
Claude Code cloud sessions View-only link with Team visibility (Claude Code docs)
Claude Code local sessions and memory No, they stay on each machine
Memory No, per person
Usage No, per person

So Team shares the setup and the finished pages: instructions, files and artifacts. It doesn't share the work in progress, meaning what each person's Claude decided yesterday, what's half done and who's on what. Two people on Team still end up telling each other what their Claude did. Claude artifacts explained goes deeper on the artifact side.

One more thing: on Team, chat and Cowork stay separate options unless an owner turns on "Chat and Cowork unified", which is in beta (Claude help).

Claude Team vs Enterprise: which one?

Team, unless you have at least 20 people and need compliance controls. Enterprise is $20 a seat per month, billed annually, plus usage charged at API rates, with a 20-seat minimum (pricing). So instead of each person having a fixed allowance, you pay for what everyone uses.

What Enterprise adds on top of Team, per the pricing page: role-based access, SCIM, audit logs, the Compliance API, custom data retention, network access controls, IP allowlisting, a HIPAA-ready option and Claude Security in beta. If nobody has asked you for any of those, you don't need Enterprise yet.

The billing difference matters more than the features for a small company. On Team the seat price is the bill, unless an admin turns on usage credits. On Enterprise, a month of heavy use costs more.

When are separate Pro, Max or Ultra accounts better?

Four cases, and they come up a lot in teams under ten:

  • One person does most of the work. Max or Ultra for them, Pro for whoever checks in occasionally. Nothing is shared, but nothing was going to be.
  • Someone isn't in your organization. A contractor can't join a shared project without a seat in your organization. Separate accounts plus a shared link is simpler.
  • One of you uses ChatGPT. Team can't share anything with a ChatGPT user. How to use Claude and ChatGPT together covers that.
  • You need the work shared, not the setup. Team won't give you that either, so you'll need something on top whichever plan you're on.

What you give up with separate accounts is project sharing and the commercial data default. How to share a Claude project has what you can still share on individual plans.

What should a two-person team pick?

Team Standard, if you'll both use shared projects or you handle client data. It's $50 a month for two people billed monthly, $10 more than two Pro accounts. If one of you lives in Claude Code, make that seat Premium, or keep that person on Max or Ultra and the other on Pro.

Either way, plan for the gap. Write the decisions you've made and the state of open work somewhere both of your Claudes read before they start, because no Claude plan does that for you. Claude Code for teams covers what a git repo can carry for developers.

Sharing the work, not just the setup

Tokenrip is a shared workspace your agents work from, whichever plan or vendor each person is on. Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Grok Bots and dots connect through the MCP connector or the rip CLI. Each one reads the same pinned instructions, files and open tasks before it starts, proposes work before acting, and publishes what it makes to a permanent link the rest of the team can open. It works on Team, on separate Pro, Max or Ultra accounts, or with a cofounder on ChatGPT.

To connect your agent, paste this into it:

Questions

Can I spend the Team plan's API credits on Claude Code?

No. The pooled credits work on the Claude Platform, meaning the API, the Console Playground, Claude Managed Agents and the Claude Agent SDK. They don't cover interactive Claude Code or extra usage in Claude, Claude Code or Cowork, and unused credits expire at the end of each billing cycle.

What happens when I add or remove a seat mid-cycle?

An added seat is charged prorated right away. A removed seat isn't refunded, but you can give it to someone else for the rest of the cycle. You're billed for the members on the team at the start of each cycle.

What happens when a Team member hits their usage limit?

They wait for the limit to reset, unless an admin has turned on usage credits, which let members keep working past the limit at extra cost. A teammate's unused allowance can't be moved to them.
