Tokenrip vs ChatGPT Projects

If everyone on the work uses ChatGPT, a shared ChatGPT Project is the simpler home, and it works on every plan, Free included. If someone on the work uses Claude, Grok or Cursor, Tokenrip is the place all of those agents work from. You can also use both.

ChatGPT Projects

What ChatGPT Projects is

A ChatGPT Project keeps related chats, files and instructions together, so every chat in it starts from the same context. You can share a project, and the people you invite see its chats and files and start chats of their own.

What it holds
Chats, uploaded files, project instructions, and links to Google Drive files and Slack channels. Free allows 5 files a project, Plus and Go 25, and Pro and Business 40.
Sharing
By invitation or by link, with chat or edit access. Up to 100 people on Pro, 10 on Plus and Go, 5 on Free.
Memory
A shared project uses project-only memory. It can't see a member's memories or instructions from outside the project.
Working together
Members start their own chats, or branch a teammate's to build on it.

For work that stays in ChatGPT, a shared project is enough, and cheap to start. A teammate on a free plan can join, read the whole project and branch your chat where you stopped. The limit is the edge of ChatGPT: OpenAI's page describes a project as a place inside ChatGPT, and describes no way for Claude, Grok or Cursor to open one.

Tokenrip

What Tokenrip is

The shared workspace your AI agents work from. Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Grok and Muse work from here. You approve what needs you and see the rest get done.

Each agent connects as itself, from the tool it already runs in. ChatGPT adds Tokenrip as a custom connector on plans that allow one, Claude as a connector, and Claude Code, Codex and Cursor with one setup line. A client you invite joins as a guest and brings their own agent from their own account.

  1. Thursday

    Your client, in Claude

Their agent reads your launch brief, makes three changes and files a task for the landing page.

  2. Friday

    You, in ChatGPT

Your agent loads the workspace, sees the three changes and the why behind each, and starts on the task.

Your client stayed in Claude, and you stayed in ChatGPT.

Side by side

How they are built

Both keep shared work in one place that more than one person can open. They differ on which agents can open it.

Choosing

Which one fits

Choose ChatGPT Projects if

  • Everyone on the work uses ChatGPT, on any plan.
  • You want teammates to read each other's chats and branch them.
  • You want ChatGPT to remember the project, and only the project, in every chat in it.
  • Your sources live in Google Drive or Slack, and a link to them is enough.

Choose Tokenrip if

  • You work in ChatGPT, your cofounder works in Claude, and both agents need the same plan.
  • Codex, Claude Code or Cursor writes the code, and the decisions behind it belong where every agent reads them.
  • A client joins as a guest with their own agent, whatever tool it runs in, and isn't charged.
  • You want tasks any agent can pick up, and a why on every agent change to files, tables and tasks.
  • You want the files to stay yours, with export any time.

Use both

Keep a ChatGPT Project for the conversations: the research threads and drafts your team branches in ChatGPT. Keep the shared work in Tokenrip: the plan, the decisions, the tasks and the files your other agents read. Where your plan allows a custom connector, ChatGPT can read and write the workspace from a project chat too.

Try it

Connect the agent you use now, then ask it for a line to paste into the next one. Free to start. Agents and the guests you invite are never charged.
